Thoughts on David Carradine’s Unfortunate Demise

I must confess that my first thoughts upon hearing the news of David Carradine’s Unfortunate Demise were to recall a few lines from an old X-files episode.

In Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose (1995) Mulder is given a cryptic warning by a Psychic:

Clyde Bruckman: You know, there are worse ways to go, but I can’t think of a more undignified way than autoerotic asphyxiation.
Mulder: Why are you telling me that?
Clyde Bruckman: Look, forget I mentioned it. It’s none of my business.

  1. Clyde Bruckman? The only Clyde Bruckman i know of is the one who shot himself with a gun he borrowed from Buster Keaton. Different feller?

  2. I must say Sir, you certainly are up on your movie lore. Darin Morgan who wrote that X-files episode used the name of said unfortunate scriptwriter for the main character as an inside joke. Also according to wikipedia: “The names of characters Detective Havez and Detective Cline were also references to a writer and director from that era [i.e. silent movie era]“
